Ammos Domi — sand house in Greek — is a thoughtfully designed studio on the quiet side of Kalathas, in the Akrotiri peninsula of Chania. It is the kind of place you settle into in the first ten minutes: shoes off, balcony door open, the smell of pine and dry grass drifting in from the garden.

We built it for travellers who want the privacy of an apartment with the considered details of a small hotel: linen-soft sheets, a kitchen that actually works, and a pool to slip into between the morning coffee and the afternoon swim at the beach.

How do I check in?

Self check-in by lockbox at the main entrance. We'll send the code, step-by-step directions, and a short video the day before arrival. Check-in is from 15:00; we'll do our best to accommodate earlier arrivals when the calendar allows.

How far is the beach, really?

A genuine 10-minute walk (≈700 m) on flat residential streets to Kalathas Beach — soft sand, shallow water, sunbeds and a couple of tavernas. Stavros (the "Zorba the Greek" beach) is a 10-minute drive on the other side of the peninsula.

Is there parking?

Yes — free on-street parking right outside the building. The lane is quiet and almost always has space.

Can I bring a third guest?

Of course. The studio is licensed for up to 3 guests. The sofa converts into a comfortable single bed; a foldable extra bed is also available on request.

What's your cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 14 days before arrival. Inside 14 days, the first night is non-refundable; the remaining nights are refunded in full. Stays of 7+ nights have a flexible policy — just ask.

Do you accept long stays?

Yes. Weekly and monthly rates are available outside July and August. Drop us a note with your dates and we'll send a tailored quote.

Is the property suitable for remote work?

Comfortably. Fibre Wi-Fi (typically 100/50 Mbps), a quiet neighbourhood, and a small dining table that doubles as a desk. Plenty of cafés nearby for a change of scene.

Are pets and smoking allowed?

We don't host pets at the moment, and the apartment is non-smoking. You're welcome to smoke on the balcony.
